My Cakes

Transformer Optimus Prime Cake
An Optimus Prime cake for Axel's 5th Birthday.  3 Tier chocolate cake with blue buttercream icing and sour cherry candies.  It was pretty easy and looked great but most importantly, it was tasty!  I refuse to use fondant because I think it tastes awful and I don't care how beautiful a cake looks if the kids don't enjoy eating it.  However, I am considering using it for the detailing decorations over my buttercream icing.

Spiderman Cake
Spiderman for Axel's 4th Birthday.  I used the Wilton cake pan.  The black webbing wasn't complete because even though I searched every store from Salmon Arm to Revelstoke, I was unable to find black shoestring licorice.  Ended up thinly slicing regular black licorice - better than nothing I guess.

Lion Cake
Ari's 1st Birthday had to be a lion of course!  I used an extra large round pan and cut out the mane.  Then I used a medium round pan for the face and ears.  Jollyrancher chews for the nose, marshmallows, junior mint eyes, and shoestring licorice.  The incredible July heat made making this cake almost impossible.  Even sitting beside the air conditioning, I couldn't keep the icing from melting!  I better figure it out since I have 2 kids with July birthdays!
